I am the Health and Safety / Training / ISO 14000 Coordinator for a tier 2 automotive parts manufacturer. The company is located in the Niagara Region with seven sister companies under one corporation, and also a worldwide presence of approximately 27 facilities. Our customer base is international and we hold a very high reputation in the automotive industry.

It has been my pleasure to introduce the system that Webber Safety Strategies Inc. has designed. Once I found out about this system I immediately checked it out and was amazed as to the ease and flexibility it could be introduced into our facility. There was no effort to sell to upper management on the system since it would integrate all areas that we were addressing into one system. The fascinating part for me is that it allowed the company to come out of the dark ages and surpass all expectations to become proactive towards safety.

This system that I call the “Webber System” not only allowed us to be proactive, it allowed us to ensure a positive downward trend in lost time. Our results were approximately 33% per year in reducing lost time. Since the implementation of this system, we have done a 360° turnaround. From having 1100+ lost time days a year to 700+ no lost time days. This translated very positive on the direct and indirect cost of injuries.

This system also has allowed us to integrate a certification for ISO 18000 and compliments our existing ISO 14000 program.  The other local facilities in the corporation are being Workwell audited while we are getting rebates. I put it all to the Webber System to allow us to put this feather in our cap. It took a Workwell audit to have the other companies come on board to this system but they have seen what it did for us and now they want to have it also.
